Trimming the Fat-orial: Using the MANTIS® for Multifactorial Media Optimization in Cultivated Fat Production

Recent developments in plant-based and cell-based alternatives to farmed meat demonstrate the feasibility of these approaches.

However, the total absence of animal fat presents nutritional and taste challenges that could be solved by laboratory culture-derived fatty cells. To deliver flavorful results, the cultivation of fatty cells requires a complex experimental design for media optimization.

This application note describes how the Mantis can be a valuable tool to enable an efficient Design of Experiment (DOE) approach illustrated by the work of Hoxton Farms researchers on adipocyte cultivation.
