About
Protein crystallization has been known since 1840 and often considered a real bottleneck due to its labor-intensive nature. There was a need to automate the experimental setup, imaging, and data analysis. The advent of automated liquid handlers provided ease in preliminary screening, but automation in imaging was lacking. This area was addressed by Formulatrix by offering automation in crystal imaging with its hotel-based imagers (RI54, RI182, and RI1000). However, refrigeration was only available in the Rock Imager 1000, leaving a gap in benchtop imagers. This gap has been filled with the introduction of our next-generation benchtop imager, the Rock Imager 360® (RI360). RI360 offers the highest plate storage capacity, and refrigeration, representing notable advancements in benchtop imaging technology.
