Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Bedford, MA
FORMULATRIX®, a regional leader in robotic automation with a casual start-up feel, is seeking an amicable senior-level mechanical design engineer. If you are organized, analytical, have a knack for troubleshooting and are willing to persevere through the trial and error of the design process, you are exactly who we are looking for.
This position offers a lot of freedom for a design engineer. We have our own machine shop on site, so you have the ability to design a prototype in CAD, machine it and test it in the span of one working day. In addition to freedom, you will have a lot of responsibility, so occasionally you will be required to put your design skills temporarily aside while you perform less exciting but equally important tasks; you must be willing to pitch in as required.
Your job will consist of suggesting design improvements, testing new designs, troubleshooting, giving feedback to and working with off-shore co-workers, machining prototypes, and assisting the product manager with customer issues. You will encounter difficult technical challenges, and be expected to meet them head-on.
This position requires a team player with a can-do attitude. While you will often function as an individual contributor, ongoing team communication and problem-solving is key.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- At least three years of industry experience
- Management experience with direct reports
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Fabrication skills (desired)
FORMULATRIX requires hard work and dedication from our employees, and we are committed to hiring only the best of the best. All engineering, support, and management employees work 45 hour work weeks. In return, FORMULATRIX offers a rewarding compensation package including base salary, bonuses, profit sharing, health and dental benefits, AFLAC supplemental insurance, a 401K retirement plan, a business casual atmosphere complete with frequent cookouts in the summer, and excellent growth opportunities.
