Integration-Ready Plate Storage for Automated Laboratories

The Automated Cellmatic Incubator is built for seamless integration into automated laboratory workflows. Compatible with both the Cellmatic and third-party robotic systems, it fits perfectly into any existing workcell.

Dedicated load ports keep user access separate from the automated workflow, while two independent handoff points give the robotic arm continuous access for plate retrieval and transfer. With robotic-ready plate handling, stable plate storage, and high capacity, the system enables consistent cell culture maintenance within fully automated laboratory environments.

Built for Automated Cell Culture

Dual robotic handoff points and a dedicated load port support smooth human and robot access.

Scale Unattended Incubation

Store up to 210 plates in a stationary, vibration-free environment for continuous operation.

Key Features

Dual Automation Handoff Ports: Two dedicated robotic handoff locations allow simultaneous plate access without queuing delays, eliminating throughput bottlenecks common in single-port automated incubators.

210-Plate Storage Capacity: Accommodates up to 210 SBS-format 96-well plates, providing the capacity needed for multi-day, high-throughput cell culture workflows running without interruption.

24-Plate Manual Load Port: A dedicated front-facing load port allows biologists to load and unload 24-plate caddies without disrupting the internal environment. The caddies can be transferred directly to a biosafety cabinet for safer handling.

Stationary Plate Storage: Plates remain stationary throughout incubation, eliminating the vibration associated with carousel-based systems and supporting consistent cell health and experimental reproducibility.

Precise Environmental Control: Independently adjustable temperature (up to 50 °C, ±0.25 °C), CO₂ (up to 25%, ±0.1%), and humidity (up to 95%, ±0.5%) maintain optimal conditions for a wide range of cell culture applications.

Internal Recirculating HEPA Filtration: Continuous air recirculation through internal HEPA filters maintains a clean incubation environment throughout operation.

Automated 90 °C Moist Decontamination Cycle: A built-in decontamination cycle sanitizes the chamber without disassembly, reducing contamination risk and minimizing maintenance downtime.

Scalable Deployment: Multiple incubators can be deployed in parallel to expand plate capacity or to maintain different environmental conditions for different culture protocols simultaneously.

Dual-Port Robotic Access for High-Throughput Operation

The Cellmatic Incubator is the only automated cell culture incubator featuring two independent robotic handoff ports—a measurable advantage. While single-port incubators force the automation scheduler to queue access, dual ports allow continuous, conflict-free plate handling. This results in uninterrupted throughput over long automated runs, with zero incubator-induced bottlenecks.

Stable and Sterile Environment for Sensitive Cell Cultures

The Cellmatic Incubator maintains tightly controlled temperature, CO2, and humidity throughout the incubation cycle, with three independent mechanisms protecting cultures from contamination. Internal HEPA filtration continuously cleans chamber air during operation. An automated 90 °C moist decontamination cycle sanitizes the full chamber without disassembly, and the dedicated user load ports keep the researcher's access physically separated from the automated workflow, with caddies transferring directly to a biosafety cabinet for handling outside the system.

To further protect delicate cultures, plates remain stationary during storage, eliminating the vibration inherent to carousel-based systems and ensuring consistent conditions for sensitive cultures and reproducible results.

High-Capacity Plate Storage

The incubator supports up to 210 SBS-format microplates, provides the capacity to sustain multi-day automated cell culture runs without manual restocking mid-experiment. For higher throughput requirements, multiple Cellmatic Incubators can be deployed simultaneously expanding total plate capacity or maintaining distinct environmental conditions for different culture protocols.

Incubator Hybrid-Workflows

Safe and Efficient Manual Access for Hybrid Workflows

For laboratories combining manual and automated workflows, the incubator includes a 24-plate load port that allows biologists to quickly load and unload plates without disrupting the internal environment or interfering with the automated workflow. Caddies transfer directly to a biosafety cabinet for handling outside the system, keeping manual steps contained and controlled.

Built for Integrated Automation Ecosystems

The Automated Cell Culture Incubator connects to your automation platforms via Ethernet or a software API, enabling scheduling control by both the Cellmatic system and third-party automation platforms. Its integration-friendly design allows it to function as a core component within larger robotic workflows, enabling automated storage, retrieval, and incubation of cell culture plates.
