Magnetic bead-based nucleic acid purification is a better alternative to filtration and centrifugation methods due to its ease of use and scalability. The particulate nature and high viscosity of Mag-beads suspensions make them challenging to pipette with conventional tip-based pipettors.
Additionally, the use of contact pipetting increases tip consumption to avoid bead carryover and cross-contamination, resulting in high operating costs and plastic waste. We describe an improved semi-automated workflow using MANTIS® in combination with BlueWasher for the purification of nucleic acids that addresses the shortcomings of conventional pipetting.
